Over the past year, 146 people, who are in recovery, were placed in jobs in this region, and 65 percent of the placements remained employed for six months or longer thanks in part to a program through a not-for-profit organization.

The Recovery Reintegration Program is Volunteers of America (VOA) Mid-States® (VOA) program headquartered in Corbin and funded by the Department of Labor that is designed to work with people in recovery to help them return to the workforce. The program offers job placement, training and follow-up in addition to career counseling, mentoring and financial assistance.
“It’s like The Field of Dreams… If you build it, they will come.” Those were the words of Senate President Robert Stivers Tuesday when he joined other local and state-level officials at the site of what will soon be the newest speculative building to be constructed inside the Southern Kentucky Business Park located just off the Corbin Bypass near the Knox and Whitley County line. The Corbin City Commission voted to terminate a city employee during a special called meeting Wednesday morning.

A Knox County man is suing the City of Williamsburg after he was injured while attending a softball game at Briar Creek Park last summer.
Williamsburg’s storm sirens, which have been out of commission for more than a year, are expected to once again be operational sometime within the next week.
