Judy Lawson, age 60, wife of James Wesley Lawson of Curry Lane, Corbin, KY passed away on Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at the Baptist Health Corbin. Funeral service was Friday, August 4, at the Laurel Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Albert Jones officiating. Burial followed in the Hart Cemetery in Corbin. John Morgan, age 75 of Corbin, KY, passed away Friday, August 4, 2023 at his home.
He was born August 26, 1947 in Whitley County, KY, to the late Dewey and Daisy Cox Morgan.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Morgan of Corbin, KY; two children, John Morgan of Corbin, KY, and Sherry Morgan (James Gregory) of Corbin, KY; three grandchildren, Angela Morgan, Sierra Martin (Levi), and Aaron Perkins (Shealynn), eight great-grandchildren; six sisters, Betty Roginski of Corbin, KY, Ann Allen (Kenny) of Corbin, KY, Wanda Lovitt (Morse) of Corbin, KY, Loretta Canada of Williamsburg, KY, Emma Woods of Williamsburg, KY, and Tina Smith (Kevin) of Williamsburg, KY; two brothers, Larry Morgan (Lucille) of London, KY, and Billy Moses of Florida; special family friend, Candice Noel Giles; several nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral service will be 1:00 pm on Tuesday, August 8, at the Ellison Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Luke Day and Rev. Steve Siler officiating.
Interment will be in Highland Park Cemetery Ellison Addition.
Visitation will be at 6:00 pm on Monday, August 7, at the funeral home.

Florence Juanita Neal, age 59 of Corbin, KY, passed away Saturday, August 5, 2023 in Corbin, KY.
She was born April 13, 1964 in Cincinnati, OH to the late Charles and Nancy Beard Nichols. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by four siblings, Vivian Graf, Chuck Nichols, Bill Nichols, and Ancil Hoss Nichols.
She is survived by her husband, Michael Neal of Corbin, KY; three sons, Brian Nichols of Williamsburg, KY, Shawn Neal of Corbin, KY, Matthew Neal (Brooke) of Corbin, KY; five grandchildren, Bentley Neal, Avery Neal, Addison Neal, Emersyn Neal, and Payton Baker; four siblings, Lula Mae Yarger, Henry Nichols, Irene Robinson, and Jimbo Nichols; several nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends to mourn her passing.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Thursday, August 10, at the Ellison Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Kevin Hendrickson officiating.
Interment will be in Alsile Cemetery.
Visitation will be 6:00 pm on Wednesday, August 9, at the funeral home.

Baby Heaven Long was born sleeping in the arms of Jesus on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at Jellico Regional Hospital.
Baby Heaven was preceded in death by uncle, Andrew Blake Long; great-grandparents, William “Bill” Long and Betty (Muse) Long; and step great-grandfather, Jim Dial.
Baby Heaven is survived by mother, Valerie Joann Long, of the Elk Valley Community of Pioneer, Tennessee; sister, Lilly Nevaeh Robinson, of Jacksboro, TN; grandfather, Bill Long, of Elk Valley; grandmother, Lisa (Perkins) Dial, and husband, James, of Jacksboro; great-grandmother, Patricia (Sears) Thomas, and husband, Dave, of Covington, Kentucky; great-great-grandmother, Janice June Perkins, of Elk Valley; step great-grandmother, Judy Dial, of La Follette, TN; step great-great-grandmother, Dean Shepherd, of the Grantsboro Community of Campbell County, TN; step great-great grandfather, James Dial, of Alcoa, TN; uncle, Jeremy Long; aunt, Autumn Fiest; and a host of aunts, uncles, and other relatives to mourn the passing.
Graveside services and interment will be held on Monday, August 7, beginning at 12:00 noon in the Old Stanfield Cemetery located in the Elk Valley Community of Pioneer, TN, with the Rev. Kenneth Ballard officiating.

A Saturday afternoon traffic accident claimed the life of a Corbin woman.
The two-vehicle crash happened about 2:30 p.m. at the intersection of US25W and Falls Creek Road in Whitley County.
Charles L. Robinson, 68, of Corbin was driving a 2012 white Jeep Patriot that pulled out of Falls Creek Road onto US25W, according to a preliminary investigation by Kentucky State Police.
Robinson’s vehicle entered the path of a 2013 Nissan Altima that was traveling south and being driven by Sandy M. Harp, 52, of Williamsburg, according to a KSP release.
As a result of the collision, Florence J. Neal, 59, of Corbin, suffered life threatening injuries. She was pronounced dead by the Whitley County Coroner’s office, the release stated.
Sandy Harp was flown to Albert B. Chandler Hospital in Lexington with non-life threatening injuries. Whitley County EMS transported her other passenger, Troy Harp, of Corbin, to Baptist Health Corbin. Whitley County EMS also transported Irene Robinson, who was a passenger in Charles Robinson’s vehicle, to Baptist Health Corbin.
Both had non-life threatening injuries, according to the release.
The accident had the roadway shutdown until about 6 p.m. Saturday.
Falls Creek Road is located near White Oak Missionary Baptist Church.
KSP Trooper Joseph Mallory is continuing the investigation.
The Whitley County Sheriff’s Department, Whitley County EMS, Woodbine Volunteer Fire Department, Air Evac Lifeteam, the Whitley County Coroner’s Office and other KSP personnel assisted at the scene.

One person was injured late Saturday afternoon when an older model Toyota pickup truck apparently struck a church porch.
The accident happened about 5:30 p.m. near the intersection of Gordon Hill Pike and Barton Mill Road.
The truck apparently struck a porch on the Deliverance Church causing relatively minor damage to the porch.
Multiple Corbin Police officers and Corbin firefighters responded to the scene and treated an occupant in the truck until a Whitley County EMS unit responded a few minutes later.
A PHI Air Medical helicopter landed later landed at the old Corbin Civic Center where an emergency landing zone had been set up by the Corbin Fire Department.

Kentucky State Police and the Whitley County Sheriff’s Department responded to a fatal collision near the intersection of KY 90 and US25W (Cumberland Falls Highway) Saturday afternoon.
The sheriff’s department announced about 5 p.m. that the road was closed due to the fatality, but was expected to reopen about 6 p.m.
Kentucky State Police is leading the investigation.
No further details are available at this time.
The Williamsburg Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance to find a missing woman.
A Golden Alert D was entered for Dana Wilson Saturday morning.
Wilson has been reported to have dementia and is a diabetic needing medication, according to a police department release.
