A Whitley County grand jury indicted a North Carolina man Monday for allegedly assaulting two Williamsburg police officers and a nurse in connection with an incident last month that started with a domestic dispute at a Williamsburg business.
Baptist Health Corbin partnered with the Whitley County Health Department and the Kentucky Cancer Program to bring the Mega Lung to the Corbin Middle School Friday. Students from 5-8 grades had the opportunity to participate in the anti-vaping educational program. This event was held in the Corbin Middle School Gymnasium and was open to students and school staff members. During their grade-leveled program, students had the opportunity to tour the Mega Lung exhibit, learn about the ingredients of tobacco products that can cause health concerns, and have access to informational literature. These interactive components were followed by a brief presentation that explained the dangers of vaping and how this habit can negatively affect overall health.

Sav-Rite Home Care held a Breast Cancer Awareness Day Friday with free T-shirts and other giveaways. Among other things, the company showed off its Mastectomy Suite, and provided free refreshments for those in attendance. Attendees could also place a free ornament on the pink tree in the showroom lobby in memory of or in honor of a breast cancer survivor.

Plans for a developer to build a new hotel adjacent to The Corbin Center along with a major renovation and expansion of the facility are moving forward and should be completed within the next two years, Corbin Economic Development Director Bruce Carpenter told the Corbin City Commission during its monthly meeting Monday.
