Violators of the City of Williamsburg’s animal ordinance could soon be facing steeper penalties as the Williamsburg City Council is expected to begin discussion on increasing fines in the new year.

A Williamsburg woman is suing the City of Williamsburg, members of its police department, and a towing service owner for a car she is wanting back. She wants $25 per day, which is the same daily rate charged when a vehicle is impounded, for each day she was deprived of possession of the vehicle.

The new permit encompasses 89.58 acres of surface disturbance and 198.18 acres of Auger/HWM (shadow area). The permit is located approximately 2.0 miles east of Williamsburg in Whitley County.
The proposed operation is approximately 3.75 East of KY Hwy 25 junction with KY 92 and located 0.16 miles North of the confluence of Bradford Branch with the Cumberland River.
The proposed operation is located on the Williamsburg, Saxton and Rockholds, KY 7½ minute quadrangle maps. The operation will use a combination of contour, and auger/highwall miner methods of surface mining. The surface and auger/highwall mining area is owned by J. Andrew Croley and, his wife, Tracy Croley.
All comments, objections or requests for a permit conference must be received within thirty (30) days of today’s date. The proposed operation will add 31.50 acres of surface disturbance and will underlie an additional 89.00 acres making a total area of 120.50 acres within the permit boundary.
The proposed operation is approximately 2.0 miles North from KY 92’s junction with Maple Creek Road and located 0.10 miles northeast of Maple Creek.
The proposed operation is located on the Rockholds U.S.G.S. 7 ½-minute quadrangle map. The surface and underground area to be disturbed is owned by Thomas & Clara Hartung. The operation will use the Highwall/Auger miner methods of surface mining.

Mildred Gale Taylor, age 42, of Strunk, Kentucky (formerly of Newcomb) passed away Saturday, November 11, 2023, at the U.K. Hospital-Chandler Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky. She was born April 6, 1981, in Oneida, Tennessee.
Gail was preceded in death by grandchildren, Ariella Maylee Grace Taylor, and Ryder Christopher Taylor; brother, George Odell Green; father, Troy Riseden; and dad, Jessie Morgan.
She is survived by son, Danny Galen Taylor and wife Tessa Celeste Taylor; grandson, Grayson Ray Taylor; mother, Stella (Green) Morgan; fiancé, Ronnie King; sister, Frances Elizabeth Green; and a host of family and friends to mourn her passing.

Loretta Caddell Taulbee, age 78, of Williamsburg, KY, passed away Sunday, November 12, 2023 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center.
She was born January 29, 1945 in Whitley County, KY, to the late Howard and Nora Prewitt Caddell.
Along with her parents she was preceded in death by four brothers, Leroy Caddell, Earl Caddell, Millard Caddell, and Robert Caddell.
She is survived by three children, Glenna McCullah (Eddie) of Williamsburg, KY, Robert Barnhill of Corbin, KY, and Kenneth Barnhill of Williamsburg, KY; six grandchildren, Jennifer McCullah, Justin McCullah, Brittany Barnhill, Michael Barnhill, Kelsey Dobson, and Rose Barnhill; four great-grandchildren, two sisters, Esther Huddleston of Michigan, and Carolyn Georgiton of Mainesville, OH; several nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends to mourn her passing.

Born in Jellico, TN on May 31, 1984. Bill made a remarkable journey through life. Always adventurous and thoughtful, he lived fearlessly, embracing every moment with enthusiasm and curiosity.
Bill’s adventurous spirit was not just about exploring new places, but also diving deep into the world of ideas. As a devoted husband, loving father, and cherished son and brother, he created a family that was a reflection of his love and resilience.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Kayla Lawson Strunk of Williamsburg, KY; his step-son, Shannon Mills of Williamsburg, KY; daughters, Leah and Johnna Strunk both of Middletown, Ohio; his mother, Patricia McBrayer of Corbin, KY; siblings, Laura McBrayer of Corbin, KY, Tessea Apking of Middletown, OH, Matthew Canada of Williamsburg, KY, and Michael Canada of Florida; and his mother-in-law, Sherry Lawson of Williamsburg, KY.

C Myers, age 88 of Corbin, Ky., passed away Saturday November 11, 2023 at his home.
He was born February 7, 1935 in Clay County, Ky. to the late William and Polly Sizemore Myers. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Paul Myers. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force having served in the Korean Conflict. He was a member and Past Commander of American Legion Post 88 Corbin, Ky.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Myers of Corbin, Ky.; five children, Barbara Ann Grubb of Corbin, Ky., Kenneth Eugene Myers (Kimberly) of Corbin, Ky., Velvet Arlene Myers of Georgia, Gracie C. She was born April 1, 1959, in Jellico, Tennessee.
Helen was preceded in death by partner, Darrel Hicks; daughter, Jennifer White; granddaughter, Whitney Nicole Henley; father, James Oscar White; mother, Margaret (Henager) White; siblings, Lucille Honeycutt, Leroy White, Linda Douglas, and Donna Kimberlin.
