 Holiday basketball tournaments will begin early next week. The annual Cumberland Falls Invitational has been moved up and will be held Dec. 19-22. Action will get underway Monday with two games.

 The Whitley County Wrestling team is off the ground for another year after a successful 2011 season that saw the Colonels finish ninth in the state tournament. However, many of those wrestlers are gone along with former coach Dustin Brown.

 The Kentucky Middle School All-Stars are headed for the third-round of the All-American Middle School Football Tournament in St. Louis Saturday. Playing on that team is Whitley County Middle School eighth grader Zack Mills.
