In other business, the board of education: Presented the November Above and Beyond Award to Dee Dee Bishop, a school nurse at the high school and health coordinator over all Whitley County school nurses. Whitley County High School Principal Bob Lawson nominated her for the award. Approved sign language interpreter contracts. Whitley County Superintendent Scott Paul noted that in past years, the district had people certified in sign language, but that is not the case this school year. Approved school meal prices for employees and non-employees. Breakfast prices will go from $1.50 to $2.35 and lunch prices from $3 to $3.55 for adult employees. Breakfast prices for non-employee adults goes from $1.85 to $2.60, and lunch prices go from $3.25 to $3.80. The new rates take effect Jan. 1.
