Each student locker was adorned with a post it note with some type of positive message written on it, such as “Stay true.” “Be somebody nobody thought you could be.” “Aspire not to have more but to be more.” Every staff member also got a similar note. In addition, a mural greeted students and staff in the cafeteria that was composed entirely of post it notes. It depicted a balloon and the message “We Rise By Lifting Others!” was written out in post it notes. “Best St. Patrick’s Day ever,” said Whitley County High School Principal Bob Lawson. “They put some type of encouraging words or quotes on every single locker in the school. They also gave one to every single staff member in this building telling them how fortunate and lucky the kids were to have them in the building.” The effort was courtesy of members of the WCHS Acts of Random Kindness (ARK) Club, which is supervised by teacher Holly Jacobs. “She is just one of those life changers. She is all about helping people and changing lives. This is a visual representation of kind of what they do all the time,” Lawson noted. Students were in the school cafeteria crafting the mural until about 8:30 p.m. Thursday. “They are sending that message of we rise by lifting others up. That is kind of the mission of the ARK Club. It is really special,” Lawson noted. Lawson said that it was a great surprise to see when he walked into the building Friday morning. “Just to show up and have every kid and every person who works here have some kind of encouraging note to start your day off, how can it better than that,” Lawson added."}
