He said it was very enjoyable and me and my wife should try it sometime. I was apprehensive about taking a tour of this kind not knowing what to expect. He told me that most of the people on the coach, (the people who run these tours prefer to call it a coach rather than a bus), were senior citizens and I would fit right in. Thanks a lot I told him. After thinking it over for a while my wife and I decided to try it, basically because her sister and a friend were willing to go on the trip with us. Our tour went to Mackinac Island in Michigan along with a train ride up in Canada. Our coach line was Croswell Tours out of Cincinnati. We boarded the coach early in the morning and sat in seats we had chosen, with her sister and friend in front of us. Across the aisle from Judy and me was a retired dentist and his wife from Milford, Ohio who immediately became our friends. To make a long story short, we had a ball. We met interesting people and saw many great sights. After that trip Judy and I became less apprehensive and started going on other trips. We have made trips on several coach lines and most lived up to our expectations. This past summer we became really brave and took a 22-day tour of the northwest and Canada. It was excellent. I tell you this to support my understanding of the tour bus industry and why I believe the announcement last week that Season’s Restaurant co-owners Shea Hensley and Jason Matthews agreement with Tauck Tours in Louisville is the door opener for potentially big tourism income for Corbin. Starting May 15 Season’s Restaurant will be getting two to four buses per month with about 45 people on each. This is fantastic! But it could be the start of what eventually would make Corbin a stopping point for other tour companies. Season’s is reason enough to stop because of its delicious food and a store that is so fascinating that it will have the tourists talking about it long after they arrive home. Add to this the railroad museum that is under construction and Sander’s Park across the street and you have more reasons than one to attract the tour bus industry. And did I say the many other fine restaurants and businesses that are located downtown? I have traveled on tour buses all across the country and believe me we have far more reasons for the companies to make a stop here than many of the places they have on their schedule. Oh, did I forget to add Cumberland Falls State Park as another reason for the tour companies to run in our direction? And some day in the future offering a musical “Finger Lickin” about Col. Sanders as an incentive to keep the tourists in town overnight. Thanks to Hensley and Matthews for giving us a ray of hope that the tour bus industry will grow and make Corbin a regular stop."}
