The theme of this year’s fundraiser event is “Arabian Nights.” In keeping with the theme, Lee Richardson, Director of Development and Community Health Services at the hospital, said a Middle Eastern menu will be offered. The menu will feature chicken kabobs, Moroccan spiced prawns, falafel, grilled lamb chops and a center cut filet topped with a Middle Eastern spiced goat cheese butter and finished with a date and fig reduction. The entertainment will be very upbeat this year as “Howl at the Moon’s” Howl2Go brings their dueling pianos show to the event. The company, which has 17 locations across the nation, features pianists covering traditional piano favorites from the likes of Billy Joel and Elton John, to classic rock, pop, country and current hits. The event begins at 6 p.m. with complimentary photos and a silent auction. Dinner will begin at 7 p.m. with the entertainment beginning at 7:45 p.m. The live auction will begin at 8:15 p.m. and the entertainment will resume at 8:45 p.m. and continue until 9:30 p.m. At that same time, the silent auction will end. Richardson said proceeds from the event would go to fund improvements at the hospital’s oncology department in an effort to speed up patient treatment. A little over 1 in 3 people will develop cancer during their lifetime. Almost all of us have had cancer touch the life of someone we know and love,” said Dr. Abigail Byrnes, an oncologist at Baptist Health Corbin. “Help us to improve the treatment experience of those people in our community who are currently fighting cancer and have a blast while doing it!” Tickets to the event are $125 each with all proceeds going to the oncology effort. A full table of eight may be purchased for $1,000. “Hosting the Silver Ball each year allows us to celebrate our work together and to raise funds to provide items for the hospital and community that will enhance our citizens’ well-being,” said Larry Gray, President of Baptist Health Corbin. “Our goal is to give back to our community and to thank them for their continued support.” More information is available by contacting Richardson at (606) 523-2421."}
