The individuals who have taken on the role of “Scrooge” includes: George C. Scott, Patrick Stewart, Susan Lucci, Bill Murray and even Mr. Magoo. The Redhound Theatre rendition is an original musical that is a collaborative effort between Hibbard and Corbin High School Choir Director Candy Jones. “It is an adaptation of the original text,” Hibbard said. “Since it is set in the 1800’s, the music is from that period. We are using modern songs that don’t sound modern.” Hibbard said while the main points of the story remain the same with Scrooge meeting the ghosts who convince him to open his heart to people, especially his nephew, Fred, and the Cratchit family, there are several scenes that are typically only found in the novel. Because of the size of the cast, Hibbard said the play is an opportunity for younger students to play a major role in a high school production. “We reached all the way down to the Primary School to cast this,” Hibbard said. Cameron Wyatt will play Scrooge. Hayden Phipps takes on the role of Tiny Tim and Skyler Jones is Bob Cratchit. Zach Felts goes from the jolly Ghost of Christmas Present, who resembles Santa Claus, to the death-like Ghost of Christmas Future. Performances begin at 7 p.m. and are scheduled Thursday and Saturday, and Dec. 6-8 at the Betty Hamilton Center for the Performing Arts at the high school. “We cancelled Friday’s performance so we can go support the football team in the state championship game,” Hibbard said. Running time is approximately two hours with one intermission. Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for students. Proceeds are used to help fund future theatre productions."}
