Corbin Police Chief Rusty Hedrick announced promotions within the department including: Lieutenant Coy Wilson was promoted to major, Sergeant Jim Miller was promoted to lieutenant, Corporal Wade Mitchell promoted to sergeant; and Patrolman Brad Prewitt is promoted corporal. Wilson will be filling the role vacated by David Maiden as assistant police chief. “These officers have shown great leadership skills and great work ethic and professionalism both on and off duty needed to further the future of this department,” said Hedrick. New titles aren’t the only things changing at the Corbin Police Department. A couple of new faces will also be added to the police force. “The personnel committee met a couple of weeks ago and interviewed both of these gentlemen,” said City Manager Marlon Sams. When the recommendation was made to hire both Chris Brown and Jarrett Carr as full time officers with the Corbin Police Department, City Attorney Bob Hammons playfully objected to the hiring as it means that Brown and Carr will leave their current positions working within the Whitley County Judicial Center. Before making the motion to hire Brown and Carr, Commissioner Trent Knuckles said, “Everybody wants these guys so they must be good.” “If we are going to lose them from Whitley County, there is no better place to them to than the City of Corbin,” said Commissioner Seth Reeves. “They are going to be great additions to the city police force.” They were hired with a unanimous vote. "}
