Shortly before 10 p.m., a black male wearing all black clothing entered the Dollar General store, which is located at 1678 South US25W. Williamsburg Police Chief Wayne Bird said the clerks were in the process of closing the store for the night when the robbery took place. The suspect waited until all the customers had exited the store and then he approached the two clerks brandishing a semi automatic handgun and demanding case from the register and the safe, according to a Williamsburg police release. The suspect then ordered the clerks into an office located in the back of the store and fled on foot. Police think the suspect may be someone local rather than someone that came here off the interstate because when he exited the store on foot, he went south onto US25W and possibily onto Savoy Road instead of heading towards the interstate, Bird said. \u201cWe have a few leads we need to run down, but I wouldn\u2019t say we have any solid suspects,\u201d Bird noted. The suspect is described as a slender build black male between 5\u20198\u201d-5\u20199\u201d tall, who is in his late 20s or early 30s with slight facial hair on his chin. \u201cThe suspect is armed and should be considered dangerous,\u201d according to the release. No one was injured during the robbery. Authorities haven\u2019t disclosed how much money was taken during the robbery. Anyone with information about the suspect\u2019s identity or location is asked to call the Whitley County 911 Center non-emergency number at 549-6017, or the Williamsburg Police Department at 549-6038."}
