Due to changes in state election laws, the deadline for filing for seats on the Whitley County Board of Education, the Williamsburg Independent Board of Education and the Corbin Independent Board of Education has been moved from August to June 7 at 4 p.m. Two Whitley County Board of Education seats are on the ballot in November. First-District board member Kenny Carr and Second-District board member Brenda S. Rose are both running for re-election and so far are unopposed. On the Corbin Board of Education, two seats are up for election belonging to incumbents Kimberly Sasser Croley and Carcille Burchette.
