Terry Joe Martin, owner of the franchise located in the Trademart shopping center, said the cool treat would be available at the vast majority of events over the next year after a contract was negotiated with the city. “There are a few events that bring their own concessions,” Martin said. Under the terms of the contract, The Arena receives 37 percent of the total sales from the yogurt. Martin said he approached Arena officials with the proposal several months ago. The Corbin City Commission approved the one-year contract during a special called meeting Friday. Under the terms of the contract, Martin provides the machine, yogurt, toppings, cups and labor. The yogurt booth is set up on the concourse just to the right of the steps leading up from the main entrance. Martin said it features one yogurt machine offering chocolate, vanilla, or swirled. A limited selection of toppings including chocolate and caramel syrup and rainbow and chocolate sprinkles are offered. “We serve it,” Martin explained adding it is a 6 ounce serving. Martin said the location was chosen because it offers the necessary 220-volt electrical outlet. “It has exceeded my expectations,” Martin said. “People seem to love it.” Martin said while the location offers the opportunity to add another machine and offer additional flavors, he is happy with what he has seen so far. “We are trying to keep it basic. We don’t want to get too fancy or too big.” Arena Manager Kristi Balla said she also incorporated Mitchell’s Chili out of Barbourville into the concessions menu during the tournament. “I’m invested in helping local businesses as much as possible,” Balla said adding that both Froyoz and Mitchell’s Chili sold well and she plans on continuing both relationships. Martin said based on the reaction at the basketball tournament, he may approach Corbin Independent Schools to see about the selling yogurt at Campbell Field during the Cumberland Falls Pigskin Classic that kicks off Redhound football season. “The machine is air cooled. We have got to find out if it will operate in the heat,” Martin said."}
