It\u2019s a good feeling.\u201d \u201cIt\u2019s my strong belief that the performing arts enrich not only our collective communities, but the lives of all who live here,\u201d Comer added. \u201cThe performing arts lift our spirits, inspire us, educate us and entertain us.\u201d The season kicks off Aug. 27 with a tribute performance to Motown super groups entitled \u201cShadows of the 60\u2019s.\u201d The show will be held at the Betty Hamilton Center for Performing Arts at Corbin High School. The University of Kentucky Classical Guitar Ensemble will play at Conway Boatman Chapel, on the campus of Union College in Barbourville, on Sept. 17. Famous Duquesne University dance troupe The Tamburitzans will be back to perform Saturday, Oct. 22 at the Betty Hamilton Center for Performing Arts at Corbin High School. It just wouldn\u2019t be the Christmas season without a performance of the perfect holiday story, The Nutcracker, presented by the Lexington Ballet on Saturday, Nov. 19 at Corbin High School. Students from the Gail Frederick School of Dance in Corbin and The Dance Centre in Williamsburg will be participating in the performance. The critically acclaimed American Spiritual Ensemble, led by tenor Dr. Everett McCorvey, will perform on Feb. 16, 2017 at First Baptist Church in London. Fifteen-year-old trumpet prodigy Geoff Gallante will perform with his jazz quintet on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at the Gatliff Chapel on the campus of the University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg. The season will end on a high note with a show by The American Chamber Players on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at First Baptist Church in Corbin. All shows begin at 7:30 p.m. The Nutcracker ballet will also have a matinee performance at 2:00 p.m. Season tickets for Fine Arts performances can be purchased. A single adult ticket for all seven shows is just $75. Students get all shows for just $15. A family package includes two adult and three student season tickets for $185.
