She was born on April 17, 1939, to the late Leonard Perkins and Etta (Martin) Perkins in LaFollette, TN. She loved to cook and to crochet. She was a member of Elk Fork United Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Bridges; two children, infant daughter, Sherrie Ann Bridges, and son, William Michael Bridges; four brothers, Jimmy Perkins, Leon Perkins, J. L. Perkins, and Bobby Perkins; sister, Delores Richards; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Eckley and Mary Bridges. She is survived by her daughter, Lisa (Bridges) Cuel, of Oak Ridge; numerous nieces and nephews; several special caregivers and friends at Diversicare; and a host of other friends, neighbors, and relatives to mourn her passing. Private graveside service and interment were held on Sunday afternoon, December 18, at 3:30 p.m. at the Valley View Cemetery with the Rev. Frances \u201cJunior\u201d Dople officiating. There will be a Celebration of Life held in the dining hall of Diversicare of Oak Ridge, 115 Elmhurst Street, Oak Ridge, TN, 37830 on Friday morning, December 23, beginning at 10:00 a.m. The Bridges family loves and always hopes to help the following organizations and suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be considered in Ruth\u2019s memory to one of the following charities: Diversicare of Oak Ridge at mailing address previously listed; Cedar Bluff Cycles &#8211; Electric Bike Program for Cancer Patients, 9202 Kingston Pike \u2013 West, Knoxville, TN 37922; Smoky Mountain Children\u2019s Home at smch.org; Dolly Parton\u2019s Imagination Library at imaginationlibrary.com; or Scott Hamilton Cares Foundation at scottcares.org Cox &amp; Son Funeral Home in charge of arrangements."}
