Playing in front of a sizeable crowd at Gilliam Gym, including a huge section of fellow students and athletes decked out in red, the Lady Redhounds took the first set from 10th Region Champion Lady Indians, 25-19. Montgomery County won the second set, 25-14. Corbin appeared to have regained the momentum with a 25-23 win in the third set that included six ties. Montgomery County won the fourth set, 25-23, and then the fifth set, 15-10. “I told them I was proud of them,” said Coach Vanessa Ross. “We obviously watched film, but, at the end of the day, we could not adjust.” “Yes, it stings, but I told them you made it to state five times in a row and earned playing at home,” Ross added. “You should be very proud.” Corbin will be losing five seniors including: Chloe Adams, Khloe Herchenhahn, Emma Krutsinger, Emily Marcum and Isley Walker. However, Ross said it will not necessarily be a rebuilding year for the Lady Redhounds. “We do have a lot of younger girls that are ready to play,” Ross said of going into 2022. “Hopefully, they rise to the occasion and continue the tradition.” Ross offered her thanks to the rooting section that turned out Monday night and that has followed the team through its run to the 50th District and 13th Region titles. “They were great,” Ross said noting that it included members of the football, basketball, softball and cheerleading teams. “You don’t find that very often,” Ross said of the support noting other coaches made it possible by letting their players out of practice early. Corbin finished the season with a 28-6, going undefeated against district and region opponents."}
