Jalisa Gay, the Family Resource Center Coordinator at the primary and elementary schools, said organizers are asking organizations, businesses and individuals to sponsor one or more of the 40 children remaining on the school’s Angel Tree list. Anyone interested may contact the family resource center at the primary, elementary, intermediate, middle or high school. While the names of individual students will not be released, Gay said family resource center workers can provide details, such as the age and gender in the event a donor prefers to shop for a boy or girl or a child of a particular age group. “The students, who are ten years or older, are where we need the most help,” Gay said. The information on each student includes clothing and shoe sizes, along with two things from the child’s wish list. Gay said if an individual or organization would like to help but is unable to do the shopping, donations may be made and family resource center officials will shop for the child/children. Gay estimated the cost to sponsor a child at $100 to $150. “It will vary depending on how much you want to spend,” Gay said adding that the gifts the child has asked for are suggestions. Anyone who would like to help may contact one of the school family resource centers. The primary school number is 523-3638. The elementary school number is 528-4367 The intermediate school number is 528-1651. The middle school number is 523-3619. The high school number is 528-3902. The family resource center coordinators may also be reached via email. Jalisa.gay@corbin.kyschools.us for the primary and elementary Jerikay.wynn@corbin.kyschools.us for the intermediate and middle Michelle.mcdonald@corbin.kyschools.us for the high school Gay said there were 78 students on the Angel Tree this year. “That is the most we have ever had,” Gay said. All of the items must be returned to the schools by December 14. Gay said anyone who is unable to sponsor a child but would like to make a donation toward the effort may do so. “Any donations are welcome and appreciated,” Gay said."}
