Downtown Director Andy Salmons said more than 50 vendors and crafters are registered to participate in the event in NIBROC Park. In addition, downtown merchants will be open for business. The event will kick off at 10 a.m. and will run until 7 p.m. The Corbin Arts and Literary League, in conjunction with the Downtown Merchants Association, Corbin Downtown and Corbin Tourism, will be hosting a pumpkin-painting contest. Participants must purchase their own pumpkin and then use paint and any other accessories to decorate the pumpkin. Krystle White, with the arts and literary league, said it is a painting contest as opposed to a carving contest because the pumpkins will remain on display at Sanders Park through Halloween. “If you puncture the pumpkins, they will go bad,” White explained. White said there are no rules on pumpkin size and no theme that contestants must attempt to convey. “Run wild,” White said when asked for advice for the contestants. There are three age group categories: Seven and under, 8-12, and 13 and up. In addition, awards will be presented for the most creative entry and the best in show. Entries should be brought to Sanders Park between 3 and 6 p.m. Monday. A committee of four judges will select the winners. Winners will receive a cash prize along with a pumpkin medal. Contestants will have the opportunity to play a variety of Halloween themed games to win additional prizes. White said the games include: Wrap the Mummy, Soak the Spook and Wormpie. There will also be traditional games including: bobbing for apples, a glow in the dark duck pond and a beanbag toss. More information is available online at the Corbin Arts and Literary League’s Facebook page."}
