Born in Williamsburg, Kentucky on January 3, 1941, Roger was the son of the late Merry and Harry Jeffries and Boyd Roger Minnich II. Roger was a lifelong resident and active member of the Montgomery County community, serving many years on the Montgomery County fire board and bank board for Mt. Sterling National and Whitaker Bank. He took great pride in his profession as a local pharmacist for more than 40 years, owning and operating Begley’s Drug and Rogers and Sons until his retirement. His proudest accomplishment was becoming a father and teacher to his two sons, Chris and Brian. He often said that being their dad was his most rewarding job and he loved every moment of it. They were his best friends, and he was theirs. Roger is survived by his loving wife of fifty-nine years, Charolette Sharp Minnich, his two sons Christopher Boyd Minnich (Donna Kay) and Brian Edward Minnich (Candy). He was Pap to four beautiful grandchildren that he adored, Lilly Catherine Minnich, Chloe Bly Minnich, Joseph Chancellar Compton (Karla), Molly Shea Hignite (Trevor) and a great-grandson, Clayton Matthew Hignite, he called his little jewel. He is also survived by two sisters, whom he cherished dearly, Ms. Chris Siler (Judge Eugene II) and Ms. Jill West, both of Williamsburg, Kentucky. A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, April 1st at First Church of God in Mt. Sterling. Visitation from 10am to 12pm, with service to follow. There will also be a graveside service for family and close friends at Highland Park Cemetery on Monday, April 3rd at 11am with a luncheon at noon at the “Merry Jeffries Center” in Williamsburg, Kentucky. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Roger’s memory to Alzheimer’s Assocation, www.act.alz.org.
