He was born on January 5, 1949 in Williamsburg, KY to the late Ranzy and Mary Alice Paul Gilreath. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Lou Alsip; two brothers, Johnny Gilreath, and Cecil Gilreath; two nephews, Leon Alsip, and Frank Alsip. He was a member of Grace Christian Fellowship and loved his church family. He leaves behind so many friends that he loved dearly and they loved him. Each friendship was special to him. Troy was a United States Army Veteran who served during the Vietnam War. He received both the Purple Heart and Bronze Star Medal with V Device for combat gallantry. He proudly flies a large American flag to show his love for this country. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 year, Carolyn Gilreath; brothers, Roy Gilreath, and Archie Wilson; nephew, Darren Gilreath (Samantha) of Newport, VA; nieces, Susan Gilreath, and Dana Hale (Jeremy) of Williamsburg, KY; special sister-in-law, Geneva Gilreath; great nephew, Mike Alsip (Tracy); and a host of relatives and friends to mourn his passing. Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Tuesday, February 15, at the Ellison Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gerald Mullins officiating. Entombment will be in Cumberland Memorial Gardens in Lily, KY. Visitation will be 12:00 PM until the funeral hour Tuesday, February 15, at Ellison Funeral Home. American Legion Post 88 Corbin, KY will conduct graveside military honors.
