Sheriff Colan Harrell commended all the law enforcement officers involved for resolving the situation without anyone getting injured. &#x201C;Anytime you can resolve a violent situation without force, you&#x2019;ve gone above and beyond,&#x201D; Harrell noted. Teddy J. Veach, 37, pleaded not guilty to charges of first-degree and third-degree possession of a controlled substance, first-degree wanton endangerment, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, public intoxication and resisting arrest during his arraignment Monday afternoon in Whitley District Court. Judge Cathy Prewitt scheduled a Dec. 18 preliminary hearing in Veach&#x2019;s case, and left his bond set at $50,000 cash. About 5:30 p.m. Sunday, sheriff&#x2019;s deputies responded to a Whetstone Road residence after receiving a report that a man was under the influence of methamphetamine and had threatened to kill a family member, according to the release. The alleged intended victim was Veach&#x2019;s father, and Teddy Veach allegedly put a .38 caliber pistol to his father&#x2019;s head and threatened to kill him in addition to shooting through the residence with a .12 gauge shotgun near the front door, according to an arrest citation. His father left the residence and called 911. When Deputy Jonas Saunders arrived, he learned that Teddy Veach was in an outbuilding armed with a pistol, according to the release. Chief Deputy Tim Baker, Deputy Jason Strunk and several Kentucky State Police troopers also responded to the residence. It took authorities about 90 minutes to get Veach out of the outbuilding and into custody, the release stated. When deputies arrested him, they discovered a .38 caliber revolver in one of the pockets of his pants and several pills on him, according to the release. The 25 pills were found in Teddy Veach&#x2019;s left front jacket pocket. The pills are believed to be hydrocodone and Gabapentin, according to an arrest citation. Inside the residence, police found the shotgun that was allegedly used to threaten one of Veach&#x2019;s family members. A wall inside the residence and a door to the outbuilding showed signs of being shot by a shotgun, the release stated. Teddy Veach is currently lodged in the Whitley County Detention Center. His father was identified in court records as Danny Veach.</description></oembed>
