Born in Williamsburg, she was a daughter of the late Arch and Nancy Richardson Caudill. She had worked as a laboratory technician in the offices of Dr. Gene Scott and Dr. J. M. Watts. Hettie was a member of First Baptist Church in Williamsburg and had enjoyed singing in the choir at her church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother Arch &#x201C;Pat&#x201D; Caudill, a sister Nancy &#x201C;Cheerio&#x201D; Wyatt, and a grandson Michael Pennington. Hettie Lou is survived by her husband Walter Pennington, Sr.; children: Walter Pennington, Jr., Suzanne Marie Opalka and husband David, and Scott David Pennington and wife Kimberly; nine grandchildren: Brittany Marie Sarver, Susan Jennifer Pennington, Walter Pennington, III, Laranda Nancy Opalka, Kalyna Olga Opalka, Sophia Louise Opalka, Kendall Rose Pennington, Evan Scott Pennington, and Dawson Kelly Pennington; and a brother William Ancil &#x201C;Bud&#x201D; Caudill. Her visitation will be from 6 until 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 5, at Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home, and from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 6 at First Baptist Church in Williamsburg. The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. there with Rev. Ande Myers and Rev. Robert White officiating. Interment will be at the Ryan Cemetery in Whitley County.
