He was born on January 18, 1947 to the late Marion Rains and Elsie Smith Rains. Along with his parents he is preceded in death by daughter, Dana Norris; grandson, Avery Norris; brother, Willy Rains; and his sister, Joann Canada. Ernest is survived by his wife of 56 years Wanda Joyce Rains of Corbin, KY; three daughters, Cheryl Fuller (Paul) of Lexington, KY, Kim Brewer (Joey) of Mt. Washington, KY, and Holly Baker (Derek) of Corbin, KY; six grandchildren, Sarah Fuller, Jonathan Stivers, Jessica Stivers, Emma Baker, Allie Baker, and Alex Rains; two sisters, Mary Gilmore (Jim) of Texas, and Flo Bonkowski (Donald) of Elizabethtown, KY; two brothers, Delmer Rains (Yonghi) of Ohio, Jime Rains (Karen) of Williamsburg, KY; several nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends to mourn his passing. He was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. He was a Veteran of US Army serving in Vietnam. Graveside services will be at the Young Cemetery on Friday, November 19, at 1:00 P.M. with Rev.
